While all yoga is potentially therapeutic and healing, yoga therapy is the specific application of yoga tools - posture/exercises, breath work, meditation techniques, and more - to address an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional needs. Many people first learn about yoga through its physical practices, but a common misconception is that the discipline is all about stretching or movement. In fact, yoga therapy can help people who can’t move at all, as well as active individuals!
The yoga therapy model is unique because it addresses every aspect of life rather than considering each body part or system separately.
Yoga therapy is a safe way of working with the natural capacity of your body and mind to optimize well-being.
A yoga therapy session with Jenny begins with a free consultation call where you will have your questions answered and decide if yoga therapy is a fit for you. Once you make an appointment you will complete a thorough intake form and set your goals for your yoga therapy session. Appointments are one hour.
Yoga therapy applications may include: Education (breathing/nervous system). Practices: breathing, mindfulness, movement, yoga postures, meditation, calming words/phrases (mantras), calming hand positions (mudras), self compassion, self nurturing, journaling, creative activity, family/community engagement, nature.
The focus is on establishing new habits you enjoy, that you can easily integrate into your life for long-term benefits.
Sessions are held online or in person in Royal Oak. Other locations and in-home sessions for special situations may also be available.
Prices vary depending on the type of session you would like to attend. Go to the [OFFERINGS] page for more information on pricing. If you are experiencing a hardship, please don't hesitate to contact Jenny to discuss your options for discounted rates on a sliding scale.
Nestled in the back yard of our historic 1914 Royal Oak home, the garden greenhouse was lovingly restored into the Greenhouse Studio during extra home time over the COVID epidemic.
During a 3-year transformation process, the greenhouse was updated with tinted, shatterproof, and insulating polycarbonate panes. The newly all-season Studio now has climate-controlled temperature perfection. A multi-layer floor was installed, suspended above natural stones and crystals chosen for their healing qualities. The hand-cut support beams were inscribed with every positive, affirming, stabilizing, strengthening, loving, healing word we could think of. Our refuge was christened with hours of meditation and grand intentions.
The gardens surrounding the Greenhouse Studio are filled with plants and flowers to support the butterflies, birds and bees - pollinator helpers that are essential to the health of ecosystems, food crops, as well as sustaining biodiversity in our urban areas. The plants give tiny drinks to the littlest creatures, while our two delightful burbling water fountains serve the birds and calm our nerves.
Not only do the critters thrive in healthy natural environments, but humans do too! This is a sanctuary space. It was made for YOU. Schedule a private yoga therapy or small group session today!
